It has been a long two months, and as we head into level 3 lockdown in South Africa, one thing most of us can all agree on, is that music is a refuge from all this uncertainty.
We asked journalist, publicist, content creator, music and trend expert, El Broide what his TOP 3 artists/bands/musicians have been during Lockdown.

1. Dua Lipa – Future Nostalgia
“I have been a massive fan of Dua Lipa since she burst onto the scene. Her debut self-titled album really resonated with me and I was a little nervous to see if she could pull through with her sophomore release – and she certainly brought the heat. It’s not often that an artist has an album full of hits. I love the disco direction she has taken with this record. It’s well-written, catchy and the production is on another level. I have definitely been playing this album on repeat during lockdown

2. Conan Gray – Kid Krow
“One of my favourite new acts I have discovered during lockdown has been Conan Gray. While he has been around for a while, I really took notice of him when he released the ballad ‘The Story’. He showcases such maturity in his songwriting and he isn’t afraid to be vulnerable in his music – and it’s great seeing artists being one with their feels. His music is super relatable and it’s a project I have really been enjoying over the past few weeks.”

3. Lauv – How I’m Feeling
“He’s not the biggest independent artist in the world for no reason. Lauv has dropped hit after hit over the past year and he has finally released his debut album. He is another incredible songwriter and effortlessly uses music as an outlet. His vocal is crazy good and the project’s songwriting is some of the best I have seen in a long time.”

My 3 Favourite Local Tunes:
Sketchy Bongo & Locnville – 95 Skyline
Oli Milne – I’ll Be Okay
Jimmy Nevis – Hey Jimmy
