The KKNK Mothership Sessions are presented by KKNK, Mothership and Netwerk24.

The enigmatic artist Jan Blohm launched his debut album, Melkstraat Confessions in 2004 and subsequently became an overnight sensation in the Afrikaans music scene. This unforgettable debut release won several prestigious music awards in 2005. While renowned for his rock and blues sound, musician Jan Blohm is also devoted to and strongly influenced by soul. He is appreciated by many music lovers for his breakthrough into the mainstream music arena as an alternative artist.

In 2008 Blohm also ventured to London and China. At the 14th SAMA Awards Ceremony he received a trophy for the Best Afrikaans DVD of the Year. His next release 7 Jaar also roped in a prestigious VAMT Award as Best Rock Album of the Year as well as two Huisgenoot Tempo Awards.

Blohm teams up with bass player Ashley Hilton Jacobs and drummer John Masser for this special unplugged show as part of the online KKNK Mothership Sessions music series. Blohm says: “The show recording was a great experience. It was good to be on stage again with these two friends of mine. Even though there were no actual audience members, I still felt the energy of our performance. I hope that viewers will enjoy watching the show as much as we enjoyed making it.”

Jan Blohm’s new album, JENNY, was released in July 2020. The album consists of 14 tracks that tell the story of two teenagers from a small and conservative railway town, De Aar in the 1980`s. It is his first foray into ‘concept album’ territory and Blohm`s vision is that it will also one day be the soundtrack to a movie with the same title.

Blohm says that he is hopeful that they will be able to tour soon to introduce JENNY to his fans. “If not, we will keep finding ways to share our music with the public. I am also working on an exhibition together with Ruhan Janse van Vuuren.” Join Jan Blohm and his muso friends on Thursday 27 August at 20:00 for a great performance.
